What you can expect
As a Carrier Engineer at Zoom, you will maintain technical knowledge of both VoIP and Networking technologies. Have the ability to apply that knowledge in interconnecting a carrier to the Zoom Telephony Platform. Responsible for primary roles of evaluation, design, and onboarding of carriers and their Telephony services. The Carrier Engineer will also be responsible for Tier 2 escalations. Including customer/end users telephony issues as well as monitoring, triage and support of the Zoom Telephony Infrastructure.

With eight specialized departments, the engineering team functions as a highly collaborative, diverse powerhouse. Each department mission is to deliver seamless and innovative communication solutions. These range from software development and machine learning to quality assurance teams that work to create and maintain Zoom's user-friendly interfaces and robust infrastructure. The team continues to push the boundaries of communication technology, bringing people together regardless of their physical distance.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience working in a technical role with a telecom carrier or large enterprise operating and/or managing a sip based voice infrastructure/UCaaS environment.
- Have advanced knowledge and understanding of Voice over IP using SIP signalling to include, but not limited to using UDP, RTP, TLS,SRTP for delivery.
- Have advanced knowledge of LAN and WAN switching and routing protocols for the design and transport of Voice over IP services.
- Have knowledge of BGP routing protocol is a must.
- Understand and have knowledge of international telephony regulations and propose solutions within these regulatory requirements.
- Have experience in seeking out solutions for problems to optimize cost, performance and quality of existing solution with ownership.
- Have experience working with vendors and external partners.
