You can expect to play a key role in shaping the future of Zoom’s Web Meeting and Webinar platform. As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll work on high-impact, scalable services that support millions of users globally. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor others while staying hands-on in development.

About the Team

This team powers the core Zoom Web Meeting and Webinar experiences. Working closely with cross-functional teams, we design, build, and continuously improve services that make remote collaboration seamless. Our focus is on building secure, scalable systems and delivering high-quality user experiences
across devices.

Responsibilities

• Defining core Web Meeting/Webinar product requirements in partnership with product management and translating roadmap vision into detailed features and deliverables.

• Leading and mentoring junior engineers, supporting professional development and encouraging a culture of continuous learning.

• Establishing and maintaining engineering processes, best practices, and coding standards to ensure high-quality development.

• Designing and developing backend services using Java and Spring Boot, and building secure, scalable systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS, microservices, RESTful APIs, NoSQL).

• Building responsive, adaptive customer-facing web interfaces that provide consistent user experiences across platforms.

• Driving cloud-based test automation and deployment strategies using AWS services (e.g., EC2, ECS, S3, ElasticCache) to optimize performance and ensure platform reliability.

• Creating scalable metrics and dashboards to support business and technical insights.

• Triaging critical customer issues and engaging in support as needed to resolve escalations effectively.

What we’re looking for

• Have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or a foreign equivalent).

• Have 5+ years of experience building, deploying, and supporting enterprise-level web applications, including frontend/backend systems, APIs, and SDKs using Spring MVC or Spring Boot.

• Have deep experience in Java development, including IO, concurrency, and mu ti-threaded programming.

• Have hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and understand best practices for scalable, secure deployments.

• Have experience with relational and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch.

• Have led end-to-end development of large technical projects in collaborative environments.

• Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams.

• Have the ability to think strategically while diving deep into technical detail to deliver meaningful solutions.

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations
