About the role

Verda is expanding into new countries, and we're looking for two Senior Accountants to own the day-to-day accounting of our subsidiaries.

This is a hands-on role. You'll run the books on your own, coordinate with local advisors, and help build solid financial processes as we grow and bring our processes into line across the group. You'll be the finance point of contact for your subsidiaries. You'll work closely with our finance and accounting team and be the link between each subsidiary and its local accounting, tax and payroll providers.

Your responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day accounting for your subsidiaries from start to finish: bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance

  • Manage local outsourced providers (accounting firm, payroll provider, local auditors) so statutory reporting is accurate and on time

  • Review your subsidiaries' monthly figures during month-end close under Finnish GAAP and group reporting requirements, with a focus on accruals, capex and intercompany transactions

  • Make sure each subsidiary meets its local statutory, tax (VAT, corporate tax and withholding where it applies) and regulatory filing requirements, with support from local advisors

  • Monitor cash flow so your subsidiaries always have enough funds

  • Find ways to streamline and improve local accounting processes and controls

  • Help set up and grow new subsidiaries: learn the local compliance requirements from advisors, set up the chart of accounts, roll out our AP approval tool and connect local bank accounts for outgoing payments

Your key competencies

  • 5–7 years of accounting experience, ideally at a Finnish international startup or scaleup

  • Strong knowledge of Finnish accounting standards (FAS) and statutory reporting, plus at least a basic understanding of VAT and corporate income tax

  • Proven experience managing external service providers

  • Comfort working independently in a fast-moving environment

  • Fluent Finnish and English, written and spoken

  • Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills

  • Comfort using AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) for reconciliations, reporting or process documentation, and curiosity about how AI can make finance operations more efficient

  • Attention to detail, plus strong organisation and communication skills

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field

Nice to have

  • A professional accounting qualification such as KLT (a big plus)

  • IFRS knowledge

  • Experience with Xero, ApprovalMax or SAP

  • Other languages

  • Experience in tech, cloud infrastructure, or GPU and data center industries

What we offer

  • Cash and equity compensation

  • Benefits including healthcare, lunch and wellbeing support

  • A chance to shape the finance setup of a fast-growing company while it's still being built

  • A team of 100+ people from nearly 30 nationalities

Practicalities

  • Location: Helsinki, Finland, at our office in Sanomatalo

  • Work model: Hybrid, with at least 3 office days per week

  • Employment: Full-time, permanent
