Are you highly organized and looking to launch your career in information security at a mission-driven EdTech company? At Top Hat, we are looking for a detail-oriented Security Compliance Coordinator to keep our compliance work organized, our evidence current, and our audit requests moving smoothly. In this role, you will act as the organizational backbone of our security compliance program, gaining hands-on experience while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a foundational career in governance, risk, and compliance while helping to protect the data of millions of educators and students.
You are:
Experienced in coordination, administration, document management, or audit support.
Highly organized with an exceptional attention to detail
A clear communicator who is confident and comfortable following up with various teams to ensure deadlines are met
Tech-savvy and comfortable using spreadsheets, task trackers, and document management tools
Trustworthy and capable of handling sensitive, confidential information with the utmost care
Curious and eager to learn about security controls, audit processes, and compliance frameworks
Bonus points if you have: Familiarity with compliance platforms like Vanta, or frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, or GovRAMP (helpful, but not required)
You will:
Gather and organize compliance evidence from control owners across the company
Upload and maintain evidence in Vanta using our established guidelines
Quality-check submissions to ensure all required documents, dates, and approvals are accurate, flagging any gaps for further review
Manage the pipeline by tracking evidence requests, owners, deadlines, and overdue items
Coordinate logistics for audit meetings, control walkthroughs, and auditor follow-up requests
Maintain the administrative foundation of our program, including compliance calendars, document versions, and ownership records
Drive policy compliance by coordinating policy reviews and tracking required employee acknowledgements
Follow up on remediation tasks, ensuring that completion evidence is routed to the Security team for final validation
Keep the team informed by providing short, clear status updates on progress, blockers, and upcoming deadlines
Protect our data by handling and sharing all evidence strictly according to access and privacy requirements
