Textio is bringing a new product to market and we are seeking a high-agency Growth Marketer with product-led growth experience to help us ensure the right people discover the product, try it, get value fast, and stick around.
In this role, you‘ll partner with the VP of marketing to develop and implement creative marketing strategies that drive user acquisition, engagement, and retention. This role is meant for someone who likes being close to the product, doesn’t need perfect data to get started, can drive projects autonomously, and gets energy from turning ambiguity into clear next steps.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. You will be required to meet in person 1-3 days per week.
If this sounds like your dream role, we’d love to hear from you!

Why you’ll love working here

  • You’ll help define the PLG growth motion from the ground up
  • You’ll be close to the product and real customer behavior
  • You’ll have ownership, autonomy, and a real voice in strategy
  • You’ll work with a small, thoughtful team that enjoys fast-paced execution

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute weekly marketing experiments across various channels (content marketing, email marketing, social media, paid ads, SEO/AEO, etc.) to increase user acquisition, engagement, and retention
  • Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to shape growth features (onboarding flows, paywalls, prompts, upgrades)
  • Proactively analyze and report on campaign performance, using data-driven insights to optimize and improve future efforts
  • Monitor industry trends and competitors to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Write compelling, shareable content that resonates with our target audiences
  • Test and iterate on different messaging, targeting, and creative approaches to drive growth and improve user experience
  • Continuously optimize our website and landing pages for conversion, SEO, and user engagement
  • Bring customer and product usage insights into marketing strategy
  • Help define what “good” looks like for growth metrics at this stage

Requirements

  • 5+ years in growth marketing, must have experience with PLG and freemium models
  • Proven track record of creating and executing successful growth marketing campaigns across various channels
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO/AEO, SEM, social media platforms, and marketing analytics tools
  • A self-starter mentality and a strong desire to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact
  • A track record of running experiments end-to-end—not just executing tactics
  • Comfort working with imperfect data and evolving infrastructure
  • Strong analytical thinking (you can answer “so what?” after the numbers)

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with recruiting and talent acquisition communities and an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities they face
  • Familiarity with tools like PostHog, HubSpot, Webflow, etc., and the ability to recommend cost-conscious marketing tools needed for your role

What's special about this role?

This is a foundational growth role at a pivotal moment.
You’re joining just as we’re launching the product out of beta and shifting into a product-led growth model. There’s no pre-baked playbook, no inherited dashboards, and no “just run these campaigns” mandate. You’ll help decide what growth looks like—then build the systems to make it real.
You’ll work at the intersection of product, marketing, and data, shaping how people discover the product, experience value, and decide to pay. The work you do in the first 3-6 months will directly influence product direction, messaging, and how the company scales.
This role is special because:
  • You’re not optimizing an engine—you’re building it
  • You’ll be driving customer behavior and conversations
  • Your experiments will shape product decisions, not just marketing tactics
  • You’ll have real ownership, autonomy, and a voice in strategy
  • What you learn will compound into systems the company uses for years
If you’re excited by ambiguity, fast learning cycles, and turning raw signals into momentum, this role will feel energizing.

Why does this role exist?

This role exists to help us deeply understand how people discover the product, what makes them activate, and why they decide to pay—and then design experiments that improve those moments. This role bridges product and marketing, ensuring growth is informed by real usage, not assumptions.

What unique experiences will the candidate have?

This is not a “slot into the org chart” role.
The person in this role will:
  • Work with a recently launched product and help define its first real growth motion
  • Build a PLG engine from scratch, including channels, experiments, and metrics
  • Work directly with product and engineering to influence onboarding, activation, and monetization
  • See the full arc of growth, from first click to product usage to paid conversion
  • Test, learn, and iterate fast, with direct visibility into what’s working and what’s not
  • Shape how the company thinks about growth, not just how it executes it
They’ll leave this role having done something rare: turned an early-stage product into a system that reliably attracts, activates, and converts the right users.
