The Sr. Data Strategist at Deltek is a key member of the Foundational Data Team, responsible for defining and executing data strategies that align with business objectives and drive measurable value. This role connects business requirements with data resources, guaranteeing that customer accounts and product data are consistently standardized, properly managed, and fully utilized to deliver high-quality insights that are ready for AI applications.
Working closely with business operations, product, and data/engineering teams, the Sr. Data Strategist advances a modern domain operating model, improves data quality, and drives sustainable change. The ideal candidate is strategic, analytical, and collaborative—skilled at translating data into measurable business value and building foundational data capabilities that scale with the organization.
Enterprise Data Migration:
- Supports enterprise‑wide data migration strategy by assessing legacy systems, defining migration scope, and partnering with technical teams to design phased or full‑scale migration approaches.
- Establish data mapping, data transformation, validation, and quality controls to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Mitigate risks related to data loss, downtime, security, and compliance while ensuring adherence to governance standards.
- Track progress, validate outcomes, and report migration impact to leadership.
Data Analysis & Domain Strategy Development:
- Supports the strategy for foundational domains (Account and Product), including vision, roadmap, and stakeholder alignment.
- Define data contracts, governance standards, and quality policies to ensure consistent, trusted data across the enterprise.
- Translate business needs into actionable data initiatives and oversee the collection, organization, and analysis of enterprise data assets to drive informed decision‑making and operational efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with data analysts, engineers, BI/semantic developers, and business teams across Sales/GTM, Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, Product, IT, and platform teams (EDW/BI, CRM, PLM/ERP).
- Ensure data models, MDM, reference data, and integration patterns support governed, AI‑ready data.
- Participate in governance forums and manage intake/backlog processes to prioritize work based on business impact.
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business leaders to ensure alignment and adoption.
Performance Measurement & Impact Assessment:
- Define and track KPIs that measure the effectiveness of data strategies, domain health, and migration initiatives.
- Evaluate business impact using metrics such as data quality thresholds, remediation timelines, and adoption of standardized definitions.
- Communicate insights and outcomes to stakeholders to demonstrate measurable business value.
Success Metrics:
- Improved data quality across Account/Product domains, demonstrated through scorecards, CDE quality thresholds, and reduced data debt.
- Faster and more effective data issue remediation, supported by closed‑loop processes and measurable reduction in defects.
- Increased adoption of governed data assets, including certified views, standardized definitions, and domain KPIs across business functions.
- Strong executive confidence through transparent reporting, consistent governance decisions, and clear business impact.
- Meaningful contribution to strategic programs (e.g., CRM harmonization, Lead‑to‑Cash) and measurable operational improvements.
Qualifications :
Required Qualifications:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in SQL, Python, Excel; familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and experience with canonical models, semantic layers, and MDM/reference data.
- Business Acumen: Ability to translate data insights into business value and deep understanding of how functions like Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, and Product use data.
- Project/Program Management: Proven experience leading data initiatives—road mapping, prioritization, intake/backlog management, and cross‑functional delivery.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain complex data concepts, influence stakeholders, and present confidently to leadership.
- Experience: 7–10 years in data governance, data quality, or related disciplines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading Account/Product domain transformations (e.g., segmentation, pricing, catalog, entitlement/usage).
- Knowledge of AI/ML data readiness, including feature sourcing and responsible‑AI governance.
- Hands‑on experience with master data tools, data catalogs/lineage, workflow automation, and data quality platforms.
- Exposure to external data sources (intent, firmographics, market data) and enrichment strategies.
- Ability to stay current on data governance, MDM, semantic modeling, and analytics/AI trends and evaluate new tools for organizational fit.
