Senior Vice President, Marketing

Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote and you can work from home. Forever. That said, you must be located within +5 / -5 UTC timezones.

Oyster is seeking an experienced Senior Vice President of Marketing to lead our fully distributed global marketing organization. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, this role sits at the center of Oyster’s growth engine, owning brand, demand, and revenue diversification as we scale in a highly competitive global market.

You will be responsible for a modern, high-performing marketing function that drives revenue diversification, pipeline growth, and brand differentiation. This is a hands-on role for a leader who has already built and scaled marketing functions inside late-stage, pre-IPO companies and understands how to win in crowded, fast-moving categories. You will set the strategy, but you will also be deeply involved in execution, building the operating model, prioritizing investments, and ensuring results show up in pipeline and revenue.

You will partner closely with Sales, RevOps, Product, Partnerships, Customer Success, and Finance to ensure Oyster’s go-to-market strategy is tightly aligned, commercially disciplined, and built to scale. Key Responsibilities and ownership include:

Brand Strategy & Market Positioning

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive brand strategy with an emphasis on owned and earned non-paid media that reflects Oyster's values, mission, and unique selling proposition.

  • Build a differentiated narrative that clearly positions Oyster against established and emerging competitors.

  • Ensure consistent messaging, visual identity, and customer experience across all touchpoints.

  • Work hands-on with creative, product marketing, and customer teams to bring the brand to life in-market.

Revenue Diversification & Growth

  • Design and scale a multi-channel growth engine across inbound, outbound, partnerships, lifecycle, and ecosystem marketing.

  • Reduce reliance on any single channel by developing new, repeatable sources of pipeline and revenue.

  • Identify new market, segment, and use-case opportunities and build the marketing strategies to unlock them.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful implementation of revenue diversification strategies to ensure strong conversion, attribution, and ROI.

Marketing Strategy, Planning & Performance

  • Own and evolve Oyster’s short-, medium-, and long-term marketing strategy, with clear alignment to company and revenue goals, and present regularly to Executive Leadership.

  • Lead market, customer, and competitive analysis to inform positioning, segmentation, and investment decisions.

  • Define and execute a global go-to-market strategy that drives sustainable, multi-channel revenue growth.

  • Create clear, differentiated positioning and value propositions across products, segments, and revenue channels.

  • Establish and own marketing goals, KPIs, and budgets, with disciplined performance management against targets.

  • Use data, experimentation, and continuous testing to optimize effectiveness, efficiency, and ROI across all programs.

Demand Generation and Lead Acquisition

  • Own global demand generation and pipeline creation across all channels.

  • Lead and execute campaigns across digital, ABM, lifecycle, partnerships, and events.

  • Drive strong lead quality, conversion, and funnel performance in close partnership with Sales.

  • Ensure marketing automation, CRM, and analytics support scale, insight, and accountability.

Leadership and Development

  • Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing, collaborative and fully distributed marketing organization.

  • Attract, develop, and retain top marketing talent across brand, growth, product marketing, and operations.

  • Set clear objectives and expectations, provide regular feedback, and ensure strong performance management and accountability.

  • Create clarity, accountability, and strong cross-functional working rhythms.

  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to drive shared standards, strong operating rhythms, and continuous improvement across teams.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually evolve Oyster’s marketing capabilities.

  • Stay hands-on in execution while building a scalable, repeatable marketing engine.

Core Requirements for Applicants

Stage, Scale & Market Fit

  • 10+ years in senior marketing leadership roles within late-stage, pre-IPO companies ($30M–$300M in revenue).

  • Proven success driving revenue diversification and brand building in crowded, highly competitive markets.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead marketing for challenger brands competing against well-resourced incumbents.

  • Track record of operating in complex products, platforms, or ecosystems where positioning and GTM execution are critical to growth.

Commercial & Strategic Leadership

  • Strong strategic thinker with a proven record of developing and executing high-impact marketing strategies that translate into pipeline and revenue.

  • Deep expertise across brand, digital, demand generation, product marketing, and revenue marketing.

  • Proven ability to build and scale multi-channel growth engines through disciplined testing, learning, and optimization.

  • Data-driven operator with strong command of marketing analytics, performance reporting, and ROI measurement.

  • Experience owning and managing $10M+ marketing budgets (experience in the $10–$30M range strongly preferred), including reallocating spend to maximize impact in partnership with Finance.

Execution & Operating Rigor

  • Highly effective in nimble, fast-moving environments, able to test new initiatives and rapidly scale what works.

  • Strong project and portfolio management skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver across multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity, changing priorities, and limited structure while still delivering results.

  • Able to partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive maximum commercial impact and ROI.

Leadership & Organizational Impact

  • Experience building, leading, and scaling remote or fully distributed marketing teams.

  • Proven record of recruiting, developing, and retaining top marketing talent across brand, growth, product marketing, and operations.

  • An excellent coach, mentor, and thought partner who raises the performance bar across the organization.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and align cross-functional leaders at all levels.

Mindset & Personal Effectiveness

  • Confident and credible in complex, competitive environments.

  • Resilient, adaptable, and solutions-oriented, with a high degree of ownership and autonomy.

  • Outstanding communicator with the ability to build productive, trusted relationships across the business.

You'll also need...

  • Fluent English language skills
