Overview The head of Commerce is a new and key role within Publicis Media Japan. The role has been created to transform our Japan Commerce end-to-end offering. Leading a broad spectrum of talents from media, content, operations and analytics, the head of Commerce is responsible for leading the strategic direction, operations, and growth of Commerce within in Japan. This leadership position drives growth and excellence in Japan, fosters a culture of innovation, and ensures alignment with Publicis Media’s global vision and objectives. The head of Commerce is also responsible for driving our commerce practice, driving growth through pitches, upsell to existing clients and foster senior Commerce client relationships. The head of Commerce will collaborate with the other channel leads and Publicis Media clients leadership to make sure they are solving for their business and client needs while delivering on the wider commercial targets. Key Accountability: Strategic Leadership: Define and implement the strategic direction for Commerce, ensuring alignment with global objectives and addressing local market dynamics. Client Relationships: Build and nurture senior-level relationships with key Commerce clients, ensuring that their Commerce objectives are met and exceeded. Solutions: Accountable for building and scaling our Commerce offering across media, content, operations and analytics. The role also ensures ownership of our owned and borrowed platforms, as well as local partners i.e. Amazon & Rakuten. Team Development & Culture: Lead, mentor, and grow the commerce teams, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Operational Excellence: Ensure that the markets deliver high-quality services consistently across the region. Financial Management: Accountable for the market’s Commerce revenue target Business Development: Drive new business efforts, from identifying opportunities to leading pitches and onboarding new clients. Innovation & Thought Leadership: Champion the adoption of cutting-edge digital strategies, tools, and technologies, positioning Performics as a leader in the Commerce space. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the region, specialized teams and other divisions within the Groupe to deliver integrated solutions to clients. Responsibilities Key OKRs Innovate and scale a market leading Commerce offering focused on media, content, operations and analytics pinned by leading technology Drive local Commerce growth and Increase market share Foster team growth and development by attracting key Commerce talents and nurturing existing ones Position Publicis as a leader in Commerce in Japan Accountable for delivering successful product & service go-to-markets in Japan Improving the performance of Japan by monitoring key metrics such as revenue growth, pitches conversion, product adoption, talent attraction and retention, commercial growth rate. The Criteria At least 10+ years of experience working within or around the Commerce ecosystem with a proven track record of running a regional or global business Strong understanding of the Commerce industry, pipeline management, client acquisition and client management, this role will require high technical proficiency. Strategic thinker, can create a storyline that compels the prospect to work with the agency brand in question. Extreme time management & organization, can manage multiple complex activities at once Can thrive during peak periods of deadline-oriented activity with professionalism and composure. Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Expansive Network of industry leaders and top tier client stakeholder in Japan to drive lead generation Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. Experience working with globally distributed cross-functional teams. 15+ years in industry experience. The variance will depend on practical skills obtained, the amount of experience in a mature market and education qualifications. Deep understanding of the entire Japanese commerce ecosystem, with a focus on Amazon and Rakuten Understanding of data based marketing and the changes that has on the media planning process Ability to present to all levels clients as well as global and regional clients and internal stakeholders The ideal candidate will be able to inspire the team and clients with their knowledge and passion for media Must be fluent in Japanese and be able to speak English at a presentation and business level Additional information About the Way We Work: Be You We believe you should be able to be the same person at work as you are at home.
