Symmetry Software is part of Gusto. Symmetry is the payroll infrastructure for software & payroll platforms powering the paychecks of over 64 million workers each year. Our fully integrated suite of payroll tax APIs and software tools allows companies to solve tax compliance issues and build applications across the entirety of the payroll process.

As a member of Symmetry Software’s Enablement team, the Learning & Development Specialist will increase the bandwidth of the team and will create, develop, implement, and conduct training and development curricula for Symmetry clients and employees. In this role you will assess the training and development needs through input from surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with Symmetry clients and employees. Be responsible for establishing and maintaining training platforms, content, and learning programs that are focused on increasing knowledge and value of Symmetry products and features that lead toward client adoption and usage.

A successful candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written and can work collaboratively across all Symmetry teams. A high attention and care for details is a must as is a passion for ensuring training programs reach the intended audience through a variety of training methods and channels. Experience in the creation and delivery of training related to HR Tech software and the industry is a must. The following is a summary of the primary responsibilities for this position. Other duties may be performed which are not mentioned below and specific activities may change from time to time.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development of curriculum and facilitation of learning platforms and programs, onboarding, product training, soft-skills training, industry training, and more.
  • Partner with Symmetry key stakeholders to identify strengths and gaps in employee/client knowledge and capabilities and devise strategies to develop and grow knowledge and capabilities skills and capabilities.
  • Drive and prepare well-structured, technically accurate, and error-free internal and external training curricula and training materials using current word processing and training technology platforms.
  • Research innovative learning techniques to drive a learning culture and drive behavior change. You will look to find fun, digestible, and engaging content to make learning accessible and exciting to increase interaction with learning content.
  • Facilitate learning experiences and peer coaching groups.
  • Define, create, and implement software product-specific curriculum aligned with learning and development objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage training logistics, including communications, calendar invites, survey feedback, etc.
  • Work well both independently and with others in a team environment, leveraging existing resources to successfully meet the objectives and goals of the role.
  • Evaluates course effectiveness through end-of-course evaluations, participant comprehension, and operational metrics, making necessary content revisions.
  • Uses technology to simplify work processes. Applies technical knowledge to identify trends and solutions for L&D products and services. Learn new software and keep current on emerging technology.
  • Establishing and maintaining an audit-friendly database and dashboard representing every aspect of training delivered, including provision for individual sign-off acknowledging receipt and understanding of material delivered.

Requirements:

Prior Experience:

  • 5+ years of work experience with designing, developing, and delivering software training curricula to internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to lead and manage new Learning & Development projects from needs analysis to post-delivery evaluation.
  • Experience with and knowledge of APIs, and software code development experience preferred.
  • Experience in training and development practices, technology, and methods including needs assessment and instruction design for instructor-led, virtual, online, and blended training.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles including adult education concepts to identify appropriate delivery methods and develop technical and conceptual content.
  • Proficient in G-Suite, Airtable, Asana, JIRA, NetSuite, and Zendesk.
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills, including the ability to prepare materials for audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience writing software documentation is a plus.
  • Payroll Org - Fundamentals of Payroll and Certified Payroll Professional credentials a plus

  • Able to communicate ideas and instructions at all levels clearly and concisely.
  • Able to plan activities in a changing environment.
  • Experience in analyzing a business problem and working with multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop a solution to resolve it.
  • Ability to respect and handle diversity amongst staff and office environments.
  • Advanced or proficient level of training tools, platforms, and G-Suite in particular.
  • A fast and enthusiastic learner with a desire to increase knowledge and understanding of the HR Tech industry and Symmetry Software products and services.
  • Has excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills, empathy, professionalism, and a genuine desire to assist people.

Education:

  • A College Degree in Learning & Development or an associated area of study strongly preferred
  • Software training and/or technical services certifications preferred

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $82,000/yr to $102,000/yr in Scottsdale & most major metro locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
