About the Opportunity:
- You will be part of the Finance & Operations team here at Crunchbase that includes Accounting, FP&A, Legal, IT, Workplace Operations & Corporate Social Responsibility
- In this role, you will have the opportunity to own the month-end close process from start to finish and have the ability to drive process improvements to assist the company scale as we grow
- This role has a direct impact on publishing accurate and timely financial statements and reporting to internal & external stakeholders
What You’ll Do:
- Daily posting of cash, full cycle AP, and managing the accounting inbox
- Perform monthly-end accounting close activities, including but not limited to journal entries for credit cards, prepaids, accrued expenses, and reimbursed expenses, bank & credit card reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and GL flux analyses
- Analyze and prepare variance explanations for monthly budget vs. actual and month over month variances
- Prepare monthly financial statements and publishing of accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate with other departments to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items and resolve issues
- Assist with the creation and implementation of scalable processes, policies, and internal controls across various revenue, expense, and balance sheet account activities
- Identify, initiate and drive process improvements and automation in the month-end close process for greater accuracy, financial control, and efficiency
- Prepare audit documentation and liaise with financial auditors for year-end audit
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as necessary
What We’re Looking For:
- BS in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA is a plus
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Systems: NetSuite, Bill.com, Expensify (employee reimbursements), and advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, US GAAP and FASB codification and pronouncements
