As a Senior Data Platform Engineer in our Data Platform Infrastructure team, you’ll play a key role in designing and implementing the strategic foundation of our Enterprise Data Platform group, with a focus on scalability, security, and tenant-aware architecture.
What Will You Actually Be Doing?
- Design and build a highly scalable and secure data platform to support data pipelines for diversified and complex data flows.
- Implement least-privilege access across IaC, CI/CD and other layers of Platform
- Incorporate industry-standard data security and privacy practices, including data classification, access control, encryption at rest and in transit, and key rotation mechanisms.
- Champion data isolation principles to ensure secure data segregation across business units and environments.
- Track and identify relevant new technologies and security enhancements in the market, driving their adoption via research and POCs.
- Deliver scalable, reliable, reusable, and compliant data solutions.
- Lead and evolve our data ingestion, modeling, and reporting capabilities, ensuring they align with both self-service needs and security best practices.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, Scientists, Product Owners, and Domain Experts to identify secure data access patterns and governance requirements.
- Develop processes and tools to monitor, analyze, maintain, and improve data operations, security posture, performance, and usability.
Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent background in Software Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience as an infrastructure/data platform/big data software engineer.
- Experience with security-conscious development in cloud environments (AWS/GCP), including GCS/S3, Lambda/Cloud Function, EMR/Dataproc, Glue/Dataflow, Athena.
- Strong understanding of data protection mechanisms, key management services (e.g., AWS KMS, GCP KMS), and role-based access controls (RBAC).
- Managing secrets, tokens, certificates with HashiCorp Vault, Akeyless or AWS Secrets Manager.
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
- Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining secure and performant enterprise systems in public cloud big data environments.
- Strong SQL abilities and experience in query optimization.
- Hands-on experience in Python or equivalent languages.
- Experience administering and designing data warehouses like BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake, with a focus on secure configuration.
- Familiarity with data classification frameworks, regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA), and governance tooling.
- Experience with ETL design and implementation, including orchestration tools like Airflow and dbt.
Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes (GKE or EKS) – advantage.
Exposure to Agile development methodologies and TDD – advantage.
