The Accounting and Financial Operations team at Chainalysis is focused on building the appropriate accounting rigor and infrastructure while simultaneously maturing and transforming back office operations. We strive to grow our processes, operations, and team to meet the rapidly expanding needs of the business. The Senior Manager of Tax, reporting into the Corporate Controller, will be our first dedicated tax employee and will be responsible for our global approach to tax compliance, strategy, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have an expansive base of tax knowledge and experience extending across both domestic and international tax. This individual will seek to build upon our current processes by securing quick wins while also creating a path to invest for the future. Most importantly, they understand how to scale the department in line with the business and are excited to work at a rapidly evolving, mission-driven organization.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Create and implement recommendations after completing a thorough review of our global tax organizational structure, global go-to-market approach, and current transfer pricing policies; own all transfer pricing moving forward

  • Review our global approach to indirect tax compliance, identify gaps, and implement solutions based on prioritization

  • Examine our use of service providers globally, and determine the best mix of providers and in-house personnel; manage global service providers to maximize effectiveness and efficiency

  • Bring important tax insights to new initiatives within Chainalysis, both within the finance team and in broader company-wide discussions

  • Have responsibility for all global tax audits, identifying any areas of high risk or tax leakage and addressing immediately

  • Oversee and improve all tax compliance processes, and shift our tax provisions from annually to quarterly over time

  • Provide support for Mergers & Acquisitions, as well as non-standard transactional work; engage in the quote-to-cash process to assess any risks and opportunities

  • Partner with accounting to ensure that accounting records are created in a way that benefits the tax team

  • Stay current regarding new tax laws and legislation

We’re looking for candidates who have:

  • Strong working knowledge of global tax rules and regulations

  • Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments

  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams and leading important initiatives as an individual contributor

  • Experience building and improving tax processes

  • Polished communication and collaboration skills, strong ability to listen and influence

  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workloads to achieve results

Nice to have experience:

  • CPA

  • Systems skills in NetSuite

  • Strong command of Google Suite products
