BILL is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Senior Manager of Finance to partner with our Engineering organization. This is a critical role that will serve as the primary finance business partner to our Chief Technology Officer and the entire Engineering leadership team. You will be responsible for providing financial insights, analysis, and guidance to support strategic decision-making, optimize resource allocation, and drive the overall financial health and performance of the Engineering function.
List of Responsibilities/Duties:
- Strategic Business Partnership: Act as a trusted financial advisor to the Engineering organization, providing proactive financial insights and recommendations to support product development, R&D initiatives, and technology investments.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead the annual budgeting, long-range planning, and quarterly forecasting processes for the Engineering organization. This includes modeling and forecasting headcount, capital expenditures, and operating expenses related to engineering programs.
- Monthly Close: Assist in accounting processes related to close; work closely with R&D and Accounting to forecast and track activities for internal functions and external vendors as part of period close process.
- Performance Management: Develop and track key financial and operational metrics to measure the velocity, effectiveness and efficiency of the Engineering organization. Provide regular reporting and analysis to leadership on budget versus actuals, identifying trends and risks.
- Resource Allocation: Partner with Engineering leadership to evaluate and prioritize investments in new technologies, platforms, and talent. Provide financial analysis to support build vs. buy decisions and other strategic initiatives.
- Decision Support: Prepare financial models and business cases to evaluate new projects and initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the Engineering finance function.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with other finance teams (e.g., Corporate FP&A, Accounting) and cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, IT) to ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting and processes.
- Team Leadership: Manage 1 direct report and foster their development and growth.
We’d love to chat if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a financial business partner role supporting a technology or engineering organization.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and partner effectively with senior leaders. Proven success in stakeholder management; ability to serve as trusted advisor and gain a seat at the table with the Engineering leadership team
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, SaaS business models, and key financial metrics for technology companies.
- Experience providing support in the scaling of the data center infrastructure along with experience with AWS is preferred
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Experience with financial planning software (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Planning) and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-finance leaders.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.
The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Draper, UT. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL’s bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above.
