The Role

You'll be one of our first engineering hires, working directly with our founders to build, iterate, and scale our core product. You’ll be in a central position interfacing with frontend engineers, systems engineers, and infrastructure engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that improve user experience and support business growth. Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust backend services and APIs to support our core product

• Ship fast and iterate quickly based on user feedback and data insights

• Architect scalable systems that can grow with our user base and business needs

• Optimize application performance for high throughput and low latency

• Collaborate directly with founders on product strategy and technical decisions

• Establish engineering best practices including code review, testing, and deployment processes

• Mentor future team members as we grow the engineering organization

• Wear multiple hats and tackle whatever needs to be done to move the company forward

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend software development experience

• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Go, Rust, Python, Node.js)

• Extensive database experience with both SQL and NoSQL systems

• Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

• API design and development experience with REST and/or GraphQL

• Version control proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures

• DevOps and infrastructure experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD

• Message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)

• Startup experience or demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction

• Product mindset with understanding of user experience and business metrics
